TECHNICAL FOCUS / SMALL-FORMAT PRIMARY POWER

Specify the cell and the circuit together.

Review the exact chemistry and format alongside pulse demand, cutoff voltage and the mounting interface. Primary coin cells require a circuit that does not charge them.

ENGINEERING / SMALL-FORMAT PRIMARY POWER

A specification shaped by the equipment.

Coin Cell Batteries selection connects electrical demand, mechanical fit and operating conditions. Use these checkpoints to organize the discussion.

Explore the engineering brief

Define the current model, interface drawing and sample-review criteria together.

Identify chemistry and format

Similar-looking coin cells may have different chemistries and voltage characteristics. Use the exact model designation.

Review pulse behavior

A nominal capacity figure alone does not describe voltage response under short current pulses.

Confirm the mounting interface

Specify a holder or supplier-approved tab assembly, polarity and mechanical drawing before ordering.

APPLICATION PLANNING

Small interfaces deserve a complete review.

Low-power electronics need reliable contact, correct polarity and a defined replacement arrangement. Use the circuit load and approved holder or tab drawing to guide the inquiry.

QUESTIONS / SMALL-FORMAT PRIMARY POWER

Before you specify.

Answers to the questions that help move an inquiry forward.

Discuss a requirement
Can CR2032 and CR2025 use the same holder?

Check the holder and device drawings. They share a nominal diameter designation but have different thicknesses, which can affect contact and retention.

Are primary coin cells rechargeable?

Primary lithium coin cells are not rechargeable. Match the charging behavior of the circuit to the exact battery chemistry and manufacturer instructions.

Can I order cells with solder tabs?

Request a supplier-approved tab or lead configuration and a drawing. Do not assume a bare cell can be soldered directly or modified by the equipment assembler.

Can I replace a CR2025 with a CR2032 in an OEM device?

Confirm the holder and device specification. CR2032 and CR2025 have different thicknesses, which may affect contact, retention and fit. Use the device-approved format.

Why does a coin cell voltage drop during a radio pulse?

Pulse demand, temperature, cell condition and the circuit’s voltage threshold can affect voltage during a radio event. Compare the measured pulse profile with the exact cell’s published behavior.

What details are needed to source a coin cell with approved tabs?

Provide the exact cell designation, manufacturer requirement, approved terminal drawing, PCB footprint, polarity and load. Ask the supplier to confirm the available terminal configuration; do not modify a bare cell directly.
